# 146 - Hydrangeas and Sunflowers

Oil painting on stretched canvas, palette knife -

This is a cropped section of a still life painting from life.  The flowers are holding up after a week in a vase to my amazement.  A few gardening tips I learned last week proved to be true, I used a bit of 7up in the vase water and my flowers  are doing great.  Probably only a few days left however.  I never knew flowers liked sugar, and 7 up works well in place of the flower packets that come with cut flowers.

Thank you for stopping by and having a look.

This is lovely, and has such a serene softness about it. I can't believe you painted this with a palette knife, Debi! Good tip about the 7-Up also!

Thank you so much Linda, the painting looks a bit more colorful than the photo. I need to find out just how much 7up to add to the water....I'll let you know. I bet your workshop with Becky Joy was great, I love her work!
