# 186 - Winter Snow

8" x 10" Oil on panel

I used google earth street view and visited my home state of Utah.  Traveling along the mountain trails I discovered some great views.  I love using google earth and finding scenes to use for painting.

Maybe a series of paintings using the street view .... it would be great practice I think.

Thank you for stopping by and having a look.

It is a great idea, I've heard of other people painting from the street view too but have not tried it myself. This landscape feels very fresh, I love the shadows and composition! It would make a fun series!

Thank you Jane and Celia! This was a fun little painting. I first tried street view after submitting a few paintings on "The Virtual Paintout" blog. This month the place he selected is Venice. You both live in Italy, have you had the chance to visit Venice? It looks so pretty. Check out his website, I have it listed on my favorite blogs.

The deep, long shadows are wonderful, leading the viewer right in. A lovely painting, Debi! I admire your use of "google earth". It's something I haven't actually tried, but think about it.

Thank you so much Linda! It is fun searching through street view. Not the same as being there in person of course!
