Tonight I tried a painting on an illustration board instead of a gessoed panel.  It was different lightweight and the brushes seemed to want to bounce off instead of grip and stay put.  I will use the other three that came with the package.  I am not sure if I can use watercolor or acrylics I would like to try a different medium for a change.
